Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum in Tbilisi: New Horizons of Economic Partnership

As part of his state visit to Georgia, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived at the «Expo Georgia» Exhibition Center, which became the venue for the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum. Here, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar was warmly welcomed by the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze. Then, the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum took place. At the beginning of the forum, the head of the Georgian Government delivered a speech. Welcoming the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the forum participants, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze noted that it was a great honor for him to host the head of Turkmenistan in Georgia. It was emphasized that today's meeting is yet another visible confirmation of the successful and dynamic development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation, which opens up new broad opportunities for the private sector and business communities. The head of the Georgian Government also stressed that, at present, many joint ventures and companies with the participation of Turkmen capital are effectively operating in Georgia in the fields of transport, logistics, construction, agriculture, and other sectors. This accumulated solid experience serves as a strong foundation for future cooperation. The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze wished everyone success, expressing confidence that today's high-level meeting would become a powerful stimulus for establishing new partnerships, proposing concrete initiatives, and fostering closer, fruitful interaction between the business structures of both countries. Then, the floor was given to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Addressing the audience, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar noted that the current forum is designed to promote the development of bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation. Speaking about the economic development of Turkmenistan, the Head of State emphasized that at the beginning of 2026, an Investment Program was approved in our country, the main goal of which is to maintain the growth rate of the gross domestic product at the level of 6.3 percent. As for the sectors, one of the main directions is the further development of the fuel and energy complex. In this context, the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan has commenced the fourth stage of the industrial development of the «Galkynyş» gas field, which is one of the largest in the world. The development of the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea also remains a crucial direction, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar said, emphasizing in this regard that our country is consistently developing a strategic partnership with foreign oil and gas companies. As was noted, new facilities have been put into operation in the field of processing hydrocarbon resources. Currently, finished liquid petroleum products are steadily exported to countries in Asia and Europe. By building plants for the production of mineral fertilizers, polymers, and other chemical products that are in high demand on world markets, Turkmenistan has achieved intensive industrial growth in the gas chemical industry. The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the private sector is also effectively developing within the structure of the national economy. In recent years, wide-scale production of construction, metal, plastic, cable, and electrical products has been established. The volume of finished textile products manufactured in Turkmenistan exceeds 130 thousand tons per year. About 80 percent of the total volume of goods produced by the industry is directed for export. Thanks to investments and the development of the private sector, agriculture is also increasing its export potential. Currently, Turkmenistan is one of the major suppliers of environmentally friendly food products. Stating the existence of great potential for the development of transport, logistics, communications, infrastructure, and the utilization of marine terminals, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the need to involve private entrepreneurship in the formation of related specialized systems and the use of special opportunities for the transit of goods and services. – We are negotiating the creation of a cargo terminal of Turkmenistan on the Georgian coast of the Black Sea. I believe that the business communities of the two countries should take an active part in the implementation of this project, putting public-private partnership into practice through action, – Arkadagly Hero-Serdar said. Turkmenistan is also interested in Georgia's experience in the development of tourism and the service sector. The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that this forum is viewed as the beginning of a consistent, well-thought-out, and concrete dialogue between the entrepreneurs of the two countries. Expressing support for holding such events in Turkmenistan and Georgia on a regular basis, Arkadagly Hero-Serdar wished the forum participants productive interaction, as well as an exchange of useful ideas and experience.
