Hydrogeologists of Mary and Lebap velayats exceed underground water drilling plans

The workforce of the «Marygidrogeologiýa» expedition of the State corporation «Türkmengeologiýa» considers its primary task to be increasing underground water reserves and providing the population of Mary and Lebap velayats with clean drinking water. Specialists and workers of the expedition are stepping up their work pace, marking the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan's Independence with labor achievements. Specialists and geologists of the expedition conduct prospecting and exploration works for underground waters across Mary and Lebap velayats, calculate the reserves of underground water deposits, and carry out hydrogeological, ecological, and reclamation engineering-geological research and surveys to study the geoecological state of underground and surface waters as well as soil affected by technogenic factors. Long-term monitoring of the regime, circulation, and quality of underground waters has been organized in these two velayats. Currently, drilling and surveying operations are underway at the Tarymlyk, Sakarçäge, Peşanaly, Murgap, Töreşyh, Tarhan, Kelçe, Gündogar Baýramaly, Täze oba and Sandykgaçy sites in Mary velayat, as well as at the Dzhynlygum, Zähmetkeş, Tahyrbaý, and Narazym sites in Lebap velayat. Prospecting, exploration of underground and mineral therapeutic waters, and reserve estimations are being carried out in these areas. Upon orders from enterprises and organizations, the expedition's hydrogeologists also conduct prospecting and exploration operations for industrial underground waters in Ahal and Balkan velayats. In particular, commissioned by the Bereket Iodine Plant located in the Bereket etrap of Balkan velayat, exploration for iodine-bromine waters is currently in progress. Hydrogeologists Gozel Allamyradova, Ilyas Bairamalyyev, Dovlet Bashimov, and Malik Hanmamedov, along with drilling masters Dovran Annayev, Bashim Guydzhov, and Serdar Orazov, contribute significantly to meeting the monthly production targets for 2026. A head of the «Marygidrogeologiýa» expedition Amangylych Charyyev stated that thanks to state support, the enterprise is upgrading its operations to increase underground drinking water reserves using new technologies and modern equipment. This year, the expedition was allocated two high-tech drilling rigs produced by leading enterprises of the People's Republic of China, designed for drilling wells to a depth of 200–300 meters; they were immediately commissioned at active exploration sites. According to him, during the seven months of this year, 16,054 meters were drilled instead of the planned 4,400 meters of core mechanical drilling—achieving an 111.5 percent performance rate; additionally, 2,411 meters were drilled under contractual work. Amangylych Charyyev noted that the expedition intends to complete 2026 with the successful fulfillment of all production indicators.
