Turkmenistan expands geological exploration drilling in search of low-sulfur gas

The State corporation «Türkmengeologiýa» is carrying out large-scale geological exploration and production drilling at several oil and gas fields across various regions of the country, with particular focus on the search for low-sulfur natural gas. The work is being carried out under the Program for the Development of Turkmenistan's Oil and Gas Industry through 2030, which envisages a substantial increase in oil and natural gas production.

Exploration wells for oil and gas are drilled by specialized oil and gas exploration expeditions of the State corporation «Türkmengeologiýa» . At the instruction of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, significant attention is being paid to strengthening the corporation's material and technical base.

Among the key tasks in developing the oil and gas sector are not only the discovery of new fields, but also the development and commissioning of previously discovered deposits, the rational development of fields, and increasing oil and gas production at them.

This year has seen a number of significant events in the oil and gas industry: the 20th anniversary of oil and gas cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China was celebrated, and the fourth stage of development of the «Galkynyş» gas field — one of the largest in the world — was launched. The fourth stage envisages the construction of facilities to process 10 billion cubic meters of marketable natural gas per year, as well as the drilling and commissioning of the corresponding gas wells.

Thanks to the efforts of the Head of State, work is proceeding at a rapid pace to search for and discover new fields, develop them, expand cooperation with foreign oil and gas companies, attract investment, and carry out geological exploration using modern equipment based on digital technologies.
