Well A8 yields industrial gas flow at «Magtymguly» field in Turkmen Caspian sector
Production well A8 at the «Magtymguly» gas field in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea has yielded an industrial flow of more than 1.3 million cubic meters of natural gas and about 130 tons of gas condensate per day. This was reported by state media of Turkmenistan on Monday. Well A8 was drilled in the Toplum-1 contract area to a depth of 4,981 meters. Development work at the well is currently underway at an initial stage, with output expected to increase in the future. The work is being carried out under a Production Sharing Agreement between Malaysia's «PETRONAS Carigali Sdn. Bhd.» and the State concern «Türkmennebit». Particular attention is being paid to international cooperation in developing licensed offshore blocks in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea. Over the past 30 years, five modern platforms have been built in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea and its coastal zone, and about 40 exploration, appraisal and production wells have been drilled. Joint operations in the Caspian Sea have produced more than 44 billion cubic meters of gas and 16 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons. The new stage of cooperation envisages development of offshore blocks No. 19 and No. 20 in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, as well as 2D seismic surveys at blocks No. 11, 12, 13 and 14.
