The conference of heads of customs services of the countries of the European region has ended at the headquarters of the World Customs Organization (WCO), where a proposal to assign the status of the WCO Regional Training Center to the Training Center under the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan was unanimously approved, the press service of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Brussels reported. The event was attended by a Turkmen delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Service M. Muhammedov. Representative of the Customs Service of Turkmenistan Kerim Ahmedov made a detailed presentation on the capabilities of the Training Center, demonstrating its modernized infrastructure, technical potential, educational programs and digital platforms. According to him, the strategic plan for the development of the Center was developed in close cooperation with the WCO and received official approval from the Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB) in Europe. The conference participants were also shown a video presentation reflecting Turkmenistan's achievements in the field of modernization of the customs system. The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov, speaking at the conference, expressed gratitude for the support of the initiative and emphasized the important role of the country as a "stable and reliable bridge between Asia and Europe." The diplomat assured that the specialists trained at the Regional Center will contribute to the development of international trade and logistics. The final stage of the status assignment procedure will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the WCO and the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, scheduled for the annual session of the WCO Council in June 2025.
