The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a phone conversation during which they focused on water and environmental issues, as reported by the official media of Turkmenistan on Wednesday.
Both leaders emphasized the need to consolidate efforts in addressing water problems in Central Asia, highlighting the importance of international law, consideration of regional countries' interests, and the role of the UN. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reminded Tokayev of his initiative announced at the "One Water" summit in Riyadh and expressed confidence in the successful implementation of joint projects.
They also discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas. They noted that relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are developing dynamically, and regular high-level contacts strengthen their strategic partnership.
