Turkmen Foreign Minister Meets with Marco Rubio in Washington
Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Wednesday. The US side emphasized its intention to continue engagement with Turkmenistan aimed at developing economic and trade ties, as well as advancing regional integration through the C5+1 diplomatic platform, Rubio said on his social media page. The C5+1 platform is a diplomatic format that brings together the United States and the five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. It serves as a forum for cooperation on a wide range of issues, including the economy, energy and the environment. Bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the United States, established in 1992, continue to develop within the framework of cooperation at the United Nations, the OSCE and other international organizations. The two countries also collaborate in the fields of education, healthcare and agriculture.
