Turkmenistan attended the 5th TURKSOY Senior Officials Meeting in Trabzon

On August 18, 2025, the 5th Senior Officials Meeting was successfully held in Trabzon, Republic of Türkiye, in preparation for the 42nd Ordinary Session of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of the Member States of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). The event was organized by TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf. The meeting was attended by representatives of the ministries of culture of the member states, as well as employees of the TURKSOY General Secretariat. Turkmenistan was represented by Maya Saparova, Head of the Foreign Relations Department of the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan. The participants discussed the cultural events planned for 2026, as well as efforts to strengthen cooperation within the Turkic world. During the meeting, key issues on the agenda of the upcoming Permanent Council meeting were discussed, including: popularization of the common cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples; development of cultural exchange programs among youth; support for projects in the field of art and literature; preparation for holding events within the framework of the ‘Cultural Capital of the Turkic World – 2026’. Following the discussions, the participants reached a consensus on strengthening cultural interaction between the countries and increasing the international recognition of the initiatives implemented under the auspices of TURKSOY. ‘Our consultations play an important role in preserving and promoting the common cultural values of the Turkic world, as well as in ensuring their wider representation in the international arena. Holding this meeting in Trabzon will strengthen the ties between our brotherly countries and will be an important step towards achieving our common goals in the field of culture’, TURKSOY Deputy Secretary General Sayit Yusuf emphasized. The meeting of senior officials, traditionally held by TURKSOY on the eve of the meeting of the Permanent Council, is aimed at ensuring that the ideas, proposals and visions of the representatives of the cultural departments of the organization's member countries are taken into account in the work of the Council.
